ESIC and IOC esports integrity collaboration

This research will represent an important collaboration at a time when the IOC is accelerating in the esports segment. The IOC makes a dedicated commission involved in esports as in the previous year, members of which are representatives of the main personalities of esport teams, including G2 Esports, Ubisoft, and Konami. Also, there is an upcoming Olympic Esports Games in future since the International Olympic Committee has conceived the Olympic Esports Series, which incorporates competitions in different games such as Gran Turismo, Zwift, and Just Dance.

Friedrich Martens, Head of the OM Unit PMC at the IOC, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: Since there are many IFs that are involved in organizing the esports competitions and the IOC is also intending to include the relevant esports competitions, we really need to update the all the related information and intelligence to protect against the manipulations or other related breaches of the esports competitions that are going to be held in the future. ” He also emphasized on the need of the support from ESIC to maintain the integrity of the esports competitions within Olympic Movement.

It is hoped that this collaboration will be highly effective in identifying the numerous issues and vices related to esports and subsequently coming up with relevant measures that will make the new booming industry to be ethical in practice.
